The Curse of the Silo

Dwan Riggins

Pay very close attention to the pendulum shift of individuality and independence. Observe verbiage, rhetoric, and conversation. Sadly, we have shifted to a “me first” society …and we’re paying the price for it. We were never designed to function in a silo, on an island, nor independently. Yet satan has very strategically and skillfully used offense, discontentment, lack of identity, and self-centeredness to draw us away from community and healthy relationships.

Please don’t lose Jesus and community trying to discover yourself. I know it’s tempting in a culture that bombards us with so much focus on individuality and independence. We are often pressed to believe that our discontentment or the missing piece to our life is due to the absence of self-discovery. Yet the scripture gives us the key when it states, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Matthew 16:25

Life …and everything pertaining to it always reverts back to Jesus.
