Devastating news news doesn’t have to devastate us:
A week ago, I got the worst news of my life. Looking back, I should’ve lost it because the person who relayed the message to me, was a stranger who was in complete panic!! But I paused …I didn’t say a word. I just remembered thinking, “Lord, I don’t know what I’m about to walk into, but I know you’re with me.” Psalm 23:4 paints the picture:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort.
What I walked into was nothing short of a movie scene. I was in a fog, but in the moment of complete organized chaos, I did what I was taught and prepared to do:
-Call on the elders
-Speak the Word!
-Give thanks to the Lord
-Refuse to focus on what I see, because temporal moments are subject to change! 2 Corinthians 4:18🔥🔥
The overemphasis of reigning with the Lord is causing many to fall away, give up, and become jaded with life because they are ill-prepared/not equipped in the area of suffering. Because if we’re honest, who wants to suffer? Yet suffering, in the biblical context is not a curse word. It is a part of life of the Christian experience. Suffering simply implies our ability to hold up under challenging times. An so, this narcissistic culture has lead many to believe that if God doesn’t give us what we want or when things get uncomfortable, we should pursue other idols; not necessarily another religion but other sources or things to make us feel good. The purpose of suffering, however, is to sanctify our dependence on the Lord to ensure we put our complete trust in Him. Therefore, we shouldn’t run from challenging times …but rather run to the ONLY ONE who will help us to hold up during rough moments (temporal moments). So when the storm passes, our faith will be strengthened and we’ll be able to remain committed to Jesus when it’s time to reign with Him.
What should’ve been a death sentence has now become a testimony of the glorious goodness of God. All is well! I’ll share the full testimony soon (when it’s appropriate), because the world needs to know!!
Thank you to everyone who prayed, showed up, checked on us, brought food, encouraged us, and trusted God with us!! I cried all week just overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. Contrary to popular belief, we need people!!
Eyes on Jesus!! He specializes in loving us well!!
Love y’all!
